A pool filter O-ring seals the filtration connections to the hoses. This way the filter works without leaks and without drawing in air.
The original Mountfield ring has the exact size for this series. This is why it fits without modification.

Why a pool filter O-ring matters
The picture shows a thin black rubber ring with a round cross-section. It sits in a groove of the connection fitting. When the nut is tightened, it is pressed and seals the connection. If it is worn, the filter loses pressure and draws in air. Then the water is cleaned less effectively. That is why a simple ring replacement often solves the problem.
When to replace the ring
- when there is water around the filter connection;
- when air bubbles appear in the hose;
- when the rubber has dried out or cracked;
- when the ring was lost while cleaning the filter.
How it is installed
First switch off the pump at the power supply. Then unscrew the connection and take out the old ring. Clean the groove and the fitting. Insert the new ring without twisting it and screw on the connection by hand. Finally, switch on the filtration and check that there is no moisture around the joint. If you see drops, switch off the pump and tighten the connection again. If it fails once more, replace the fitting as well.
Advantages of the original ring
Universal rings often have a slightly different size. Then the filter draws in air and loses efficiency. The original Mountfield ring is selected for this series of filtration. This is why it seals immediately and withstands the pool water. Also, the price of the small part is much lower than repairing the filtration. It is good to keep one spare ring when you put the pool away for winter. Store it in a dry, dark place, away from chemicals. This way the rubber stays elastic until the next season.
