Sand filter sight glass – when to replace it
The sight glass is in the water path and is under constant pressure. It may crack, become cloudy or start to drip. Then you cannot see the backwash water clearly. The seal also wears out.
Replace the sight glass if there is a crack or a leak. This way you will control the backwashing and not lose water.
The original set consists of a sight glass and a seal. The thread and size match the filter. That is why the connection is tight without additional sealants.
How it is installed
- Switch off the pump and release the pressure.
- Unscrew the old sight glass from the valve.
- Remove the old seal and clean the thread.
- Fit the new seal and screw in the sight glass.
- Start the pump and check for leaks.
