When water drips from a filtration connection, the culprit is often a worn pool filter O-ring. This original part measures 47×5.33. It fits into the seat of a valve or a coupling and seals the gap between the two components.

When to replace a pool filter O-ring
Over time the sealing ring hardens, flattens or cracks. Then the connection starts to drip or draw in air. That is why you should replace the ring every time you take the connection apart. Also check it at the start of the season.
The original part is made exactly to the size of the seat. This is why it fits tightly and does not shift under pressure. Universal rings are often slightly thinner or thicker. As a result the connection stays unreliable and water keeps leaking.
How it is installed
- Switch off the pump and release the pressure in the filtration.
- Unscrew the coupling and take out the old ring.
- Clean the seat of dirt and residue.
- Fit the new ring and reassemble the connection without overtightening it.
- Start the pump and check the connection for leaks.
Maintenance tips
Before any work on the filtration, disconnect the pump from the power supply. Also check all seals and connections at the start of the season. This way small problems show up in time and do not lead to the pool being shut down.
