What the Poolsana PLUS skimmer does
The skimmer is a built-in fitting connected to the pool's sand filter or pump. It draws in the water surface and traps leaves and other dirt. In addition, you can safely add chlorine tablets through the skimmer basket. Adding chemicals directly into the pool risks bleaching the liner.
- Skimmer basket – filters out coarse dirt
- Skimmer flap – closes the opening when the pump is off
- Suction plate for connecting an automatic or manual cleaner
- Liner flange with double seal and a skimmer faceplate that hides the flange
Connection and variants
The skimmer has a 1½″ female thread. A 1½″ male thread × 32/38 mm hose adapter is included. This makes it ready for connection to a hose. For rigid pipe, for example Ø 50 mm, an additional adapter is needed, which is bought separately.
It is available in white and in grey. The variant with a return nozzle adds a nozzle that returns the filtered water from the filter back into the pool. It is supplied with seals and an adapter for Ø 32/38 mm hose. The recommended opening in the steel wall is 60 mm.
Installation and maintenance
On Poolsana steel pools, the cut-outs for the skimmer and nozzles are usually pre-punched in the wall. The skimmer is installed slightly below the top edge of the pool. The water fills it to about two thirds of its height. The skimmer flap regulates suction while the pump is running and lets fine particles from the surface enter the skimmer.
When to clean the skimmer
The skimmer traps coarse dirt. That is why the pump's strainer basket needs cleaning less often.
The suction plate should always be removed when no cleaner is connected. This way the water is drawn correctly from the surface. Check the basket regularly during the season. This keeps the pump working without overload and the water clean.
