The Astralpool 180 mm floor drain is a compact ABS element with a right-angle outlet. It connects to the sand filter through the skimmer line, improving water circulation in larger pools.

What a floor drain is for
The drain is suitable for steel pools – round, figure-eight and oval. It is also suitable for masonry pools, for example concrete rectangular ones.
It is installed in the concrete floor slab. The pipes to it are joined to the skimmer suction line, so the sand filter draws water through both lines.

What does the kit include?
A grille, liner flange and gaskets are supplied. The body is made of impact-resistant, pressure-resistant ABS plastic. The compact size makes installation easier. Additional parts are available for the drain, for example a 50 mm × 2″ transition nipple with external thread.
Advantages of the floor drain
The floor drain draws water from the bottom of the pool, so the water circulates more evenly. This is especially useful in large pools. In large pools both lines – the skimmer and the drain – are also used at the same time.
Important when emptying the pool
When draining completely through the floor drain, there is a risk that the water column will break. This happens when a small residual amount of water remains, and the pump may then run dry.
That is why an additional submersible pump is recommended for emptying the remainder.
A 50 mm pipe kit for the floor drain is suitable for connecting the drain to the suction line. Plan the pipe route carefully before concreting the slab.
Where the floor drain is suitable
The drain is used in steel and masonry pools. It is convenient for pools where one skimmer line is not enough. It also complements suction from the surface with suction from the bottom.
The grille and liner flange are included in the set.
