16 µF capacitor for pool pump
When the pump hums but does not start, the cause is often a worn pool pump capacitor. This original part is a water pump capacitor with a capacitance of 16 µF. It has a connecting cable and a metal screw for fixing.

16 µF water pump capacitor for pool – when to replace
Over time the capacitor loses capacitance. Then the motor has a weak start, overheats or stops. So replace the capacitor as soon as the pump does not start on its own. Also check it at every maintenance of the electrical part.
The original capacitor has the same capacitance as the old one. This way the motor works within the intended limits. Unsuitable values can overload the windings. That is why do not replace the part with a smaller or larger capacitance.
How to install the 16 µF capacitor for water pump
- Switch off the power and wait for the capacitor to discharge.
- Note how the wires are connected.
- Unscrew the fixing nut and remove the old capacitor.
- Fit the new one and connect the wires the same way.
- Close the motor cover and start the pump.
